PROJECT AIM:

Aladdin intends to facilitate the sharing of the knowledge of older and newly-retired people with younger people who have low levels of language, lack formal education and struggle with ambition and aspiration.

Older people will be trained to run storytelling-based workshops which facilitate the younger student’s engagement and performance in language, as well as helping to develop a sense of belongingness and a sharing of cultural differences. Students will be expected to work cooperatively and both parties will be encouraged to share and learn from each others’ experiences. In this way the project hopes to bring members of different generations together to develop greater acceptance, understanding and appreciation of each other whilst enhancing skills, employability and aspiration.
