Working in partnership with All Star Entertainment (www.allstarents.co.uk), Bradford Music Education Hub and Bradford City Council Events Team Sound of the Suburbs is the exciting Our Big Extra Programme that has been taking place in the BD4 area of Bradford since January 2015. Led by highly skilled experienced musicians the project has so far involved 20 residents of BD4 engaging in a wide range of taster workshops in music-making, composition, song-writing, production, promotion and performance. A core group of 14 people now attends regular weekly sessions taking place at the TDF Centre - a great space in the heart of BD4 which, through Sound of the Suburbs we are working to get more local people to  use as part of our long term plans for the project.

One of the Sound of the Suburbs volunteers, Dean said, ‘ It is a fantastic feeling to be helping local people to make the best use of the TDF Centre by offering them some basic training in using some of the state-of-the-art equipment here but also as I get to shadow and learn from the professionals about how to develop my own skills too!’

Watch out for more developments in the coming months as Sound of the Suburbs rolls out to local schools and culminates in performances and workshops - part of Bradford City Council’s Urban Music Festival taking place in July 2015 in Centenary Square, Bradford.
