The girls from Lincoln have done it again! After success with Our Big Gig events in previous years Eleni Taylor and Sophie Fleming, along with the rest of the ActionLN2 working group, pulled out all the stops to make their 2015 festival in Lincoln Arboretum the biggest and best event to date. So good in fact that the Daily Mail ran a feature on them! You can read the article here.
Here’s Eleni’s account of the day:
On Sunday 19th July, around 1500 residents from around Lincoln attended Action LN2’s annual Our Big Gig in the Arboretum community music festival. There was live music throughout the day ranging from a choir covering popular songs to singer songwriters to folk music – there was definitely something for every one! Stall holder Caitlin Rump-Smith said: “It was a great experience and I would like to do it again!” The festival-goers were able to take part in a range of activities including a West African drumming workshop and giant bubble-blowing. There were also inflatables and a circus skill workshop for children to enjoy as well as a variety of stalls such as homemade jewellery, charities and a tombola.
Eleni Taylor, volunteer organiser and compere said: “I love doing this event and it’s so amazing to see how much it has grown just this year! I can’t wait for next year’s event!”
Action LN2 along with some amazing new volunteers worked hard to put together what is most definitely their biggest Big Gig yet! Volunteer Organiser Alice Carter said “The 2015 event was another huge success for Action LN2 and I am proud Our Big Gig is becoming such a popular feature in our area, and is continuing to bring so many people together. This year we also had some fantastic new volunteers involved in planning the event which contributed even further to its success.”
jyuiAction LN2 managed to raise a fantastic £605 through donations, a tuck shop and tombola which we will put towards next year’s event!
