About us

SUPERACT! Was formed in 2006 with the intention of acting as a performance facilitator for musicians and a musician resource centre for communities and individuals throughout the south west of England. All musician on our books work to the highest standards and through their talent we hope to inject local communities with the excitement and inspiration that live music brings.

As a Community Interest Company, SUPERACT! Relies totally on funding from grant-making and corporate bodies and individuals.

The directors Ali Smith and Paul Smith (no relation) are based in Wellington in Somerset.

ALI SMITH - can trace her family back many centuries with the last five generations featuring classical musicians. With a background dominated by voluntary and community-based activities, Ali became South West Director or Live Music Now! In 1999. A talented musician in her own right, Ali studied the cello in Prague. Passionate about many things, she lists France, food, music, wine and seaside towns as her priorities.

PAUL SMITH - with a classical history and ancient Greek degree behind him, Paul’s career began in book retailing and continued as a fundraising and training manager for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Paul’s artistic side manifests itself through acting, singing and directing. He has performed in many plays from ‘Macbeth’ to ‘Cabaret’ and directed big shows such as ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ and ‘The Madness of GeorgeIII’. Paul’s passions include food, wine, cricket, long-distance running and London - about which he is writing a series of walking guides.
